Growing the bean stalk and finished building

A little more progress on my project. The Bean stalk took me a little longer than I thought. Oddly I can paint faster than doing a collage.

Building the castle up

I am finally getting around to getting this project done. I don't think I was feeling well earlier yesterday because I was knocked out most of the day. Anyways, after getting some practice in on my Yoda piece it gave me a better idea how to handle some obstacles that I will be facing in this one because the layering and 3D separating is going to be very intricate so I am hoping everything goes the way I planned.

In order to get some practice I tried to see if I could apply the technique to one of my older illustration. In order to see the effect you will of course need one of those blue and red 3D glasses.

May the shrooms be with you.

The Romance Ends

Well I am done for now but I touch it up later. I would continue to fiddle with it and refine it but I am running out of time because of have other things that are stacking up on me so I have to choose my battles.

The romance continues part 2

Well time is running short and I have been sneaking in time to work on this piece inbetween studies, class, and traveling back and fro from school. I have final got some color into my piece and I think I am getting need the mood I want but I still need to make a few more adjustments and then I will work on polishing it off with refinements and details.

The romance continues

Well after advice from our professeur I made some final decisions for my final comp for this piece although this meant redoing all my values. Doesn't matter though because the extra work is always worth it. I now have all my base values in and now I am going to work it as an underpainting after which I will do a series of color overlays to get in my color scheme.

Done Friday night

Was going through my sketch book and came across a sketch that I had done last semester and had not painted even though I had planned on to. The sketch kept staring at me and I just had to work on doing a painting of it.

Pagoda Boat Romance: Update April 05

Well after taking some camera shots and messing around with poser all day I was finally able to get pose reference for what I wanted in this comp. Now I have to go and panic and try and get all my other homework done.

Pagoda Boat Romance: Update

Well finally gotten around to getting stuff done. I think I have worked out my compositional balance well and so later on I am going to draw in my characters. I wanted to get the environment all taken care of with some good detail before I added in the characters that way I don't get lazy.

Pagoda Boat Romance

Well using my prior thumb nails I did a little rearranging of the elements that I came up with inside photoshop. I think the landscape version is the one I like the best. Right now everything is just purely placement. There are two stories that I am trying to tell in this illustration. The first is of a world of boats, where life is on the boats, and it all creates a unique atmosphere. The second is a tail of romance and scandal. The fore ground figures are most likely going to be reacting to the middle ground characters but for now I am just looking for placement.

Mickey's Escape

My Mickey Comic Strip is finally done now all I have to do is print it out. I might touch it up later before I do that though just so I smooth everything out but I think I am good now.

Some Thumbnail Comps

Well for my forth illustration project, it was suggest that we start thinking of what we wanted to do. One of the options was to take a real good sketch or idea out of our sketchbooks that could be made into a really great composition. So I have started working on some loose thumbnail comps based on my Pagoda Boat sketch which keeps grabbing my attention.

This is the original Pagoda Boat idea that I came up with a couple of weeks ago. I really like the concept of it and I have been itching to do a comp based on it in someway or form.

Here are the thumb comps that I have done so far but I am unsure which I want to do as I like most of them. I really hate it when I have to make up my mind about stuff like this.

A Comic Breakdown

Gag Break Down for my Mickey Three Panel Comic Strip.

Mickey is trapped in some kind of box or cell!

Mickey Takes off one of his ears and throws it up against one of the walls of the cell.

Mickey Crawls through his ear that is on the wall which is now a hole in the wall. In addition this would be a Popout of the Frame of the Comic Strip frame.

Some more Eye fun

Since we were allowed to use the 3D program of our choice if we had it I decided to do my 3D eye in Maya as it has been awhile since I did any work inside of Maya. It is kind of funny because I recently had acquired the 2010 Maya and had not time to play with it. There appears to be some neat stuff in it since the last time I used it. For instance there are now muscle effects. Hope I will have time to learn it.

Here is the close up shot of my own eye that we were suppose to do. Rather easy assignment especially since I have a decent camera. So it is always a joy when I can take advantage of it.

Decided to play with the photo shot a little bit in Photoshop and give myself green eyes. However me being me I wondered what I would look like with an unnatural green eye. I like it : )

Gear Head

Well this is my second project for my digital illustration class. I liked how it came out but I think I can do a little more fussing with it. Just feels like I could do a little more but at the same time I don't want to over work the image.

Order and Chaos Eye

My Pattern Eyes. I used a pattern that was a combo of order and chaos so it is about balance. I also turned this eye into a symbol so that I could stamp the eye without the pattern shifting.

Learning to Draw Mickey

Trying to draw in someone else's style is not easy and takes some practice but I think I have what it takes. I think I need to work on drawing Mickey a little more so that I can draw him implicitly.

Expressing myself abstractly

Did these for a project I am working on for my digital illustration painting class. I guess they are for a background for our current project. I basically put on some random music and let it affect my work so I was more reactive in stead of controlling.

My ART SHOW AT THE EXIT GALLERY

Now that this is my second semester as a senior and as a member of the Pencil Mileage Club at Cal State Fullerton I am proud to announce that I will have an Art Gallery show of some of my past and current work at the Exit Gallery of Cal State Fullerton University. I also felt that this was an opportune time to share some of my best work with fellow club members, friends and professors. The theme of my work is centered around illustrations of the fantastic. Most of my work are digital paintings as well as few Mix Media however even if you have seen my work before now is your chance to see it as it was meant to be seen, printed out to full size. The opening premier of my Exit Gallery show will be this Saturday at 12pm. I will be there personally from 12pm to 4pm if you wish to talk to me or ask questions about my work.

The savage me

Here is a illustrative self portrait I did of myself showing my wild calm side. This was a mix media project of an ink painting, abstract acrylic painting and all merged together with photoshop.

Best Art School

I got to the best art school in the world

Finally blogging

Well as part of my digital illustration class we are required to have a blog. This is great since I have procrastinated so long in doing this. As time goes on I will be posting my work from my class as well as some of my personal work.
